No one is willing to go on the record about how the now-legal bikes — including electric Citi Bikes — are now illegal to ride on the Hudson River Greenway, the nation's most popular bike lane.
Wednesday's crucial Citi Bike planning workshop in the west Bronx is, of course, canceled — so residents of the area around Yankee Stadium are being asked to submit their recommendations for docking stations online.
The Citi Bike surge has ended — but with millions of New Yorkers no longer commuting, the fact that the Lyft-owned bike share network is still serving tens of thousands of people a day suggests that people are still choosing bicycles to get around.
The boom comes partly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, plus Mayor de Blasio's request that New Yorkers to bike to work (which prompted a new song parody from Streetsblog!).
