New drivers for the first time will be tested on their knowledge of pedestrian and cyclist safety as a part of the requirements for obtaining a license in New York, according to a law that the governor signed Friday.
There were 15,947 reported vehicle crashes in the first quarter of 2022. The Department of Transportation examined 521 of those crash locations and took immediate action to improve safety at just three.
The city will raise the base fare on the NYC Ferry system by nearly 50 percent, but in doing so, Adams said he would shore up the service and make it more equitable with reduced fares for low-income residents.
