It's a trend! Another Manhattan community board has demanded that the DOT figure out how to reallocate curb space so that roadways are not such a chaotic, unsafe mess.
An Upper West Side panel's call for a "study" of curbside use was anodyne, but the study may lead to changes that will forever end the notion of "free" parking. Let's hope.
It shouldn't be controversial at all — but it is, mostly because car drivers think every inch of roadway belongs to them (and they can put their garbage bags in the pedestrian space, too!).
